To each their own. Americans spell weirdly because one man named Noah Webster decided he’d simplify the English spelling by dropping letters. I am ok with American people using American spelling. What I object to is their forcing their spelling onto other cultures. Kids in Australia are now allowed to use American spelling in their tests. Just as well I’m not still teaching. Different cultures all over the world have different names for the same thing. It’s just like you, Americans think they’re right and the rest of the world is wrong. Take the temperature. As far as I’m aware, the rest of the world uses Celsius and America is determined to stick to imperial Fahrenheit, pounds instead of kilograms, pints and gallons instead of litres. It’s just crazy! And don’t try to cook using an American recipe!
