Meat Pie or Sausage Roll? Meat Pie. I’m pretty sure these were brought from Scotland, eh? After looking it up, the sausage roll originated in France, and the Meat Pie, from Wikipedia: The origins of the meat pie have been traced back to the Neolithic period, around 9500 BC.[1] Versions of what is now known as pies were featured on ancient Egyptian tomb walls, and in ancient Greek and Roman texts.[2]
