There’s nothing better than escaping to the movies on a Sunday afternoon. And today was no exception. But the movie was like nothing I’d ever seen. Set in 1919 in Arnhem Land, High Ground tells the story of an ongoing conflict between whites and blacks.

Apart from its breathtaking location, the movie left me stunned. And for the first time in my whole movie-going career, not a single person left the theatre until every last credit had rolled past and the screen turned black.

Starring Simon Baker of The Mentalist and an old Aussie actor Jack Thompson, as well as a cast of hundreds of tribal aborigines, it explores the tensions that existed not only between the two races but between individual characters of the same race. Gripping stuff — shocked into silence at the end! If you get the chance, go see it!
