So what’s underneath The Devil’s Throat Cave? We may never know. Even modern technology can’t quite crack the mystery as the numerous tracking devices thrown in the river lose signal soon after they make it in the underground water system and never emerge. As the guide pointed out, explorers and scientists from around the world — including National Geographic — have traveled to study it and come up empty.

There are some things in nature we may be meant never to know. Quite a terrifying place. We have a place in Queensland called the Devil's Pool where 21 people have drowned over the past 60 years.
