Not Everyone Loves Candles As Much As I Do
Day 16 of Keeley’s May Mania
I’m not quite sure what this means. I’ve sold so many things in my life to make a few extra dollars. If I’ve used the product and liked it, I have no problem selling it. You name it – I’ve probably sold it. Avanti skin care ( my first foray into selling as a teenager), Amway, Avon, Nutrimetics, Swipe, Wheylite, Herbalife, ugg boots, sheepskin rugs, cowhides, alpaca llamas made in Peru, soy candles, reading books, CD-ROMs, and online reading programs. I’ve never worked in retail – always ran a home-based business. Oh hell, I’ve even sold my own homes when real estate agents failed. My friends say I could sell snow to Eskimos but I don’t think that’s true. I can only sell things that I have loved and that will improve my customer’s life.
I love candles and used to spend a small fortune buying them so when we learned to make our own, we went for it in a big way. We made hundreds — what we didn’t take into account not everyone loves candles as much as I do. I didn’t find this out until I set up a stall for Mothers’ Day. I only sold a few! This has definitely been the most difficult thing I’ve had to sell but I’m not wasting them — I’m enjoying them all myself — they leave a lovely fragrance in the room. Can you pick my favourites?
