CAR ACCIDENTS
My Fourth Car Accident
Legally 100% my fault
This accident happened less than a kilometre from my home. I’d been to the bank. I can’t remember where I was going from there. I came to a T-junction. There’s a stop sign. There was a car stopped in front of me. They stopped, then moved forward.
I stopped checked there was no traffic coming on my right and drove off — straight into the car in front of me. She had driven out into the intersection and stopped. I have no idea why. We both pulled around the corner and checked the damage.
My car had a damaged number plate. Her car had a dent in the boot*. I gave her the details of my insurance broker to send the repair quotes. I didn’t want to tell my husband as there was no visible damage to my car. I straightened the number plate. Her car was an old orange sedan. I don’t know what make or model as the insignia was missing from the rear of the car. The following week my husband and I went on a 12-day holiday to Darwin and Singapore. I didn’t give the car accident another thought.
As soon as we returned home, I drove up to my parents to collect the kids. My husband stayed at home. He opened all of the mail — something he would normally never do — and found the quotes to repair that orange car.
