My Favourite Place to Visit
Day 18 of Keeley’s writing challenge
Now, this one is a double-edged sword. My favourite place to be is with my darling grandson. He’s just 18 months and is developing a real mischievous personality — we used to call it being naughty — but he’s adventurous too. He loves climbing but has no idea of danger and there’s no point in telling him that something is dangerous, poisonous or yukky because he just wants that thing even more.
My favourite place to visit is also a difficult question to answer. As a continent, I would say Europe, but I haven’t been to South America or Antarctica. More specifically, I’d say I love to visit European villages more than the cities. Don’t get me wrong — the cities are filled with history and culture and architecture but I really love the village vibe. I’ve stayed in villages in France, Germany, England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, Italy, and Portugal but I think my favourite ones are those white hilltowns in Spain.
To choose just one is even more difficult — Zahara de la Sierra, Ronda, Alhama de Granada, Bubión or Castril? I loved them all. Los amo a todos.
