My brother was the skipper ( master mariner) on a yacht owned by a German millionaire who entertained guests on it occasionally. The rest of the year, Peter and his wife (the cook) had the boat to themselves. They had to keep it in tiptop shape but it was theirs to sail wherever they wanted. He had the life of the rich without being rich. Meanwhile I was stuck at home with a tribe of kids. To say I craved his life would be an understatement. But now our roles are reversed. Life is strange that way.
