I've never mastered the thinking in Spanish. I have to think in English and then translate. I learned but did not acquire Peninsula Spanish. Love your list of cognates. Just remember the pronunciation riles and you have 1000 words ate your fingertips. And I agree you have to want to learn a language to achieve any degree of fluency.
