I write on Medium under my real name. I don’t put anything like my real name on dating profiles. My daughter who’s in IT tells me anyone who knows what she knows can still find you online from your phone number. But you need to give your phone number at some stage so you’re really between the devil and the deep blue sea. I don’t use real names in any of my dating stories but I’m sure they’d recognise themselves if they read them.
