I travel in off season and it's definitely the way to avoid the summer crowds.

…ause the crush of people and long lines make the trip less satisfying if you go during peak season. The downsides in the offseason are that the weather is often not ideal and some attractions may be closed. For us, the tradeoff is worth it.
