I think this is what my grandmother was. She never went to church but she was a good woman. She took my sister and me in when we were dumped on her and loved us and looked after us for 3 years. She never had a bad word to say about anyone. She shared her home uncomplainingly with destitute relatives. I try to be more like her but geez it’s hard. I must remember that word mensch.
