I just wrote about a day trip to one of my local islands. So travel local is true. I've stayed in a place for $25 a night (so airbnb is true) nd I like to go to less touristy places where prices are what the locals pay! And free or cheap activities are great! And I just went to see a Spanish film at our local Spanish Festival. So I agree with all of your suggestions.
