I honestly can’t think of a single neologism that I’ve heard recently that I don’t know the meaning of.

I’ve looked up lists of neologisms and I either know them or I don’t. So I’ve learned a couple of new words this week that aren’t English. Salamat is a word I use several times a day. It’s pronounced with the stress on the second last syllable. Maritess (not sure of spelling) means gossip. Maybe that’s colloquial but it’s used frequently. There’s a lot of that happening around a wedding. Who knows? They may even be talking about me.

The photo is the Chocolate Hills. I don’t know if there’s a Filipino word for them. I’ll find out tomorrow when I visit.
