I don’t like the word retired. I don’t want to stop doing stuff. If I stop, I’ll have time to think and I don’t want to think! I’m learning Portuguese, Spanish and Italian to keep my brain functioning, as well as being involved in Travel and French classes at U3A (University of the Third Age).
I play walking netball twice a week and go to aqua aerobics classes four times a week. I have just started tai chi classes on Sundays. In between times, I meet friends for coffee or lunch, play board games with my family, and do some writing and editing for friends.
After a life of working full-time, I just can’t seem to sit down and do nothing. In the back of my mind, I can still hear my father saying, “You’ll die in that bed.”
