I discovered Kazimierz accidentally too. After visiting Auschwitz for the day, the bus dropped me off at a different part of town than the pickup point. I found a place (not sure what to call it) with a "beer garden" out the back which served food. The staff were friendly and gave me blankets when I started to cool down. I checked where I was and it was in the Kazimierz area.
