How Reading Travel Stories Can Help You Avoid Disasters

After reading Nomad Mills’s story of her journey to Brussels from London, I decided to double-check my rail tickets. Thank goodness I did!

I’m catching trains from Glasgow to Paris on the 11 September. Yes, you heard right. What was I thinking? Well I was thinking I wanted to avoid a night’s accommodation in London — I want all my arms and legs, thank you — and a night in London costs at least one of them.

The train I had booked from Glasgow would arrive at Euston Station around 11am, if it wasn’t running late. It would only take a few minutes to tube it from Euston to St Pancras International.

Then I read Nomad’s story and thought I’d be cutting it a little too fine so I’ll cancel that booking and make another. I had booked from Glasgow Queen Street which was close to the hostel I was staying at, but had to change it to Glasgow Central. Not only that but the ETD of this train is 4.28am! Is it even worth going to sleep at all?
