Fake and Contrived?
She got me…again!
Keeley’s prompt probably applies to her. “What’s something you find funny, but others around you fail to see the humour?”
She finds it incredibly funny to tell me something false but for me to believe it. I fall for it every time. How gullible am I? She thinks it’s hilarious.
For example, yesterday. Her gammin’ (pulling my leg) involved an elaborate story involving her oldest brother who lives in Townsville meeting a woman named Guinevere who reads stories on Medium. She loves Ruby’s stories. She thinks she’s a really good writer. That’s ok. Everyone has their own opinions of what good writing is. She’s entitled to her opinion.
But when Keeley said this Guinevere woman found my writing contrived and fake, I lost it! If she had said my writing was crap or boring, I would have thought “Fair enough. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion.” I know I’m not a good writer but I refuse to accept I’m fake and contrived!
I’d just come out of the dentist so was in no mood to be played with. She let me yell and swear and carry on like a cut snake for a few minutes.
“What’s her name?” I demanded. “I’ll give her fake. I’ll drive up there right now and give her a fake punch in the face.” (My eldest son lives 1000km away!) I was hopping mad, I can tell you.
