That’s me

When I was a young child, I was sometimes called Adream instead of Adrienne. I was a daydreamer, especially in class. I was often “away with the fairies”.

It wasn’t until I was in my fifties that I was diagnosed with dissociative disorder. It didn’t affect my studies in a negative way so no one worried about it. I was (mostly) an A student.

It has helped me and hindered me at various stages of my life. It definitely helped me raise six children without murdering them all because I couldn’t hear their petty squabbles so let them work it out for themselves. A much better child-rearing strategy than interfering.

At other times, it hasn’t helped at all. When my husband was cheating on me, I missed all the telltale signs.

So I’m sitting here with a coffee and a pain aux raisins daydreaming I’m on la terrasse in a café of a French village but I just can’t manage it successfully because the Aussie version of the French boulangerie item has a total of six (6) raisins! Quel sacrilège!
