We had only been friends for a few years. We met in a 50+ chat room. We’d have drinks on a Friday afternoon after work. I moved back to Brisbane and she’d often come stay for the weekend.

We’d go to a concert together, go out for lunch on Sunday, I would always be out of pocket each time she came to stay. The end of our friendship was simply about money. She booked a Bruce Springsteen concert for the two of us without asking me first.

I didn’t want to go and told her so. I begged her to take someone else. I begrudgingly paid her $120 towards the $189.95 ticket, but objected to paying the full amount as I didn’t agree to go in the first place.

She nagged me for months for the rest of the money. 18 months later, I went to New Zealand with two of my daughters. Her comment on the trip:

— You can afford to go to NZ but you can’t afford to pay me the money you owe.

I thought she was lucky I paid her $120. What do you think?
