6 Weeks!

The magic number

It’s been 6 weeks since surgery. After stressing about how I was going to get to the surgeon’s follow-up appointment, I called and asked if could I possibly make it later. Why didn’t I think to do this first? Addled brain, no doubt?

The good news is the doctor is happy with the healing process but is not happy with the amount of pain I’m still suffering. Neither am I to be honest.

I’ve been referred to the pain management clinic at the hospital so they can assess my pain meds and possibly work out a more productive solution that doesn’t require massive doses of Endone and Targin which aren’t doing the job they’re meant to.

I can’t say that I’m entirely surprised because paracetamol has absolutely no effect on my body and neither does caffeine, just to cite two examples.

In the meantime, he recommended I use pain patches as he suspects some of the pain is nerve pain. Maybe he’s right because I put these patches on the most painful part of my knees this morning and I feel I was able to complete my exercise routine with a little less pain.

Who knows if that’s psychological or not? I can see the patches on my knees! Anyway psychological or not — I’m happy to be experiencing a little less pain.
