Green tree tall and strong

Why do people cut you down?

Such a sacrilege!

You are beautiful

Gnarly twisted gorgeous tree

What happened to you?

Lone tree on the beach

A shady spot to relax

And look out to sea.

I used to compose haiku easily in my head when I was daydreaming or floating in the pool contemplating the sky or nature. I seem to have lost that skill.

Haiku were the only poems I was (sort of) good at. I cannot write a sonnet to save my life and poetry doesn’t come naturally flowing out of my fingers like Keeley’s.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the photographs that accompany each poem. Aren’t they gorgeous? I love trees and love photographing trees whenever I’m travelling. They’re my favourite part of nature. Oh, also water – rivers, oceans, lakes, waterfalls – what am I…
