17. An Impulse Buy I Regret
I don’t impulse buy. Well occasionally I do but I can’t remember ever regretting it. I have regretted not buying something that I saw and then it sold out.
I only regret buying two things online but not on impulse. I had seen this Facebook ad several times and the dress was so pretty. The Irish Ball was coming up and I didn’t want to wear the dress I had worn the previous year. I hummed and aahed and bought it.
When it arrived, I was excited. When I opened it, I thought they’ve sent me the wrong size. But I had ordered an XXXL. The largest size they had. It was so small it was laughable. It didn’t even fit one of my legs. It was too small for Rowan’s Chinese girlfriend who’s very tiny. Maybe it would fit a doll? I complained without success.
A few months later I saw a Facebook ad for a puffer jacket. I ordered one in a pretty pink. I was going to Iceland, remember? This one was a Canadian brand so I thought I was safe ordering an XXXL. Canadians aren’t usually small. But you guessed it. It came from China. Even my Chinese friend turned up her nose at the “Made in China” label. And it wouldn’t fit anyone!
I had bought it through Paypal so when I had no response from the seller, I called Paypal. I had to take my measurements and the measurements they said the jacket would fit so I had ordered the right size, but it…
