10 Reasons Why I Love To Travel
#Writing Prompt
“Why do I travel? What is so interesting about travel that I’m willing to give up so many other things? Is there a purpose to all this traveling nonsense?”
— Jack Road
I thought these were good questions for me to answer. Why do I love travel so much? I have spent a large part of my life rearing children. Now I enjoy travel more than anything else. Why? I like to focus my energy on collecting experiences as opposed to things and would rather spend my money on an adventurous holiday to a foreign land than on a fancy new car.
Part of the reason may be I’ve always wanted to travel since I was a teenager, but having six children, I didn’t have the opportunity until my children were adults. When my youngest daughter turned 18, I was off to England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland for a few weeks. I loved it. I became an addict!
I worked hard so I could have a long holiday every Christmas. My company gave me 10 weeks unpaid leave, and I took advantage of it almost every year until I retired. I’ve headed to Europe seven times in the past ten years.
I’ve really had to think deeply about why I love travelling, particularly in Europe, and here are the ten reasons I’ve come up with, in no particular order.
